Women participation will help cross membership target of 1.5 million: VD

Saturday, 21 September 2024 | PNS | Bhopal

Congratulating women for their participation in the ongoing membership drive of the Bharatiya Janata Party, state unit chief and Khajuraho MP Vishnudutt Sharma on Friday said that their contribution will ensure that the party surpasses the target of 1.5 million enrollments.Sharma was addressing women workers of the party at a membership drive event in the Gulmohar area of the Bhopal (Central) legislative constituency in the state capital. The party state unit chief has placed emphasis on the constituency, which he has vowed to win back for the BJP.The Bhopal (Central) constituency was formed in 2008 as part of a delimitation exercise in the state. The BJP won the seat for two consecutive terms in 2008 and 2013 before the Congress upstaged it in 2018 and has held sway in the area since then.Addressing the meeting, Sharma expressed hope that the participation of women in the membership campaign will help the party go beyond its target of 1.5 million new members. He said that the achievement of the target will usher in a historic moment for the party in the state.Highlighting the achievements of the BJP government at the center, Sharma said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's term in office has brought several women-centric initiatives that have resulted in growing respect for women. He assured the audience that women's representation in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will be maintained at 33 percent.Under the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme, property registration is done in the name of women, he said, and listed welfare initiatives like the Ujjwala scheme, the Ladli Laxmi scheme, and the Ladli Behna scheme of the BJP.He said that these initiatives have significantly transformed women's lives in Madhya Pradesh, adding that many women are benefiting from these schemes."A few years ago, daughters were considered a burden, but now, thanks to government schemes, they are seen as a blessing," remarked the party state unit chief with satisfaction.Sharma further said that Prime Minister Modi has lifted over 250 million people above the poverty line. With the Ayushman scheme, no poor person is deprived of medical treatment. Before 2014, poverty alleviation was just a slogan, but now it is a mission for Prime Minister Modi, and he is working swiftly in that direction. He urged people to join the party for the dignity of the nation, to bring about positive social change, and to enhance the lives of the poor."The party conducts membership drives every six years, and our workers are making this campaign meaningful by enrolling members at all 64,871 booths across the state. However, we will not stop until we surpass our target," he vowed. On that day, Sharma also participated in a cleanliness drive at the park near Gulmohar G-3, Shivay Complex, as part of the service fortnight being celebrated by the BJP to mark the birthday of the Prime Minister. The event was attended by former district president Vikas Virani, state spokesperson Neha Bagga, panelist Gunjan Choukse, Mandal president Utkarsh Nayak, and ward councillor Sushma Bawisa, along with other party officials and workers.
