Woman Public Relations Officer posted in the office of Panchayat and Rural Development Minister has committed suicide by hanging with the ceiling at her Saket Nagar house on Tuesday.
Pooja was Assistant Director in the Public Relations Department. Police reached the spot after getting information about the incident. The body was sent to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for postmortem. Before committing suicide, Pooja had called her mother and said, I am dying.
Govindpura police said that Pooja Thapak lived with her family in Saket Nagar area. She had a dispute with her husband on Tuesday. After this, Pooja hung herself from the ceiling in the night on Tuesday. Pooja Thapak's husband Nikhil Dubey is also Assistant Director on deputation in the Technology Department.
Pooja's maternal home is in Gwalior. Both Pooja and Nikhil had prepared for PSC together in Indore. Both came close to each other there. Pooja was selected as Assistant Director in 2017 and Nikhil was selected as Naib Tehsildar in 2018.
Puja made her last call to her mother. Her mother is currently with her son in Bengaluru. Puja told her that she was going to die. Her mother immediately called and told this to her son-in-law Nikhil. When Nikhil reached the room, the gate was locked from inside. In about half an hour, somehow the gate was opened and Puja was taken down from the noose and taken to the hospital.
Puja's father GN Thapak said that his daughter had an arranged marriage two years ago. Nikhil is addicted to drinking alcohol. His daughter used to oppose this. Her mother-in-law also used to quarrel over small things every day. When Pooja complained about this to Nikhil, he also took his mother's side and misbehaved with her. Pooja often mentioned this in her conversations with her mother.
Thapak told that Pooja had gone to her brother's house in Bengaluru recently, fed up with the harassment of her husband and mother-in-law. On July 8, after a lot of persuasion by Nikhil, she returned to Bhopal by flight and started living with her husband. The very next day, on July 9, in the morning, Nikhil's mother quarreled with her daughter. Nikhil also scolded Pooja. After this, Pooja talked to her mother on the phone and told her that she was leaving for Gwalior. I live in Gwalior and practice as an advocate in Gwalior court.
GN Thapak told that, the daughter even left for the station from her in-laws' house. Then the mother-in-law called and called her home and said, do not leave your innocent son and go. Take her with you. The daughter came to pick her up, there was a dispute again and at around 10:30 in the morning she hanged herself. Nikhil took her to the hospital. There the daughter was declared dead during treatment. However, the police were informed about the matter at night. We want action against those who forced the daughter to commit suicide at any cost.
ACP Deepak Nayak said that there was a dispute going on between Pooja and Nikhil from before. Pooja had also complained about her husband. After counselling, both agreed to live together again. No suicide note has been found from the spot.
