Two school kids die in road accident in Garhwa

Two school kids travelling in a tempo died and half a dozen school children were injured in a collision between a pickup and a tempo near Jata four-lane crossing on Garhwa highway, on Tuesday. As soon as the police reached the spot, the angry people started pelting stones at the policemen, in which about a dozen policemen were injured.


All the injured children have been admitted to Garhwa Sadar Hospital,  where, assessing  the critical condition of Dipankar Mehta and Uday Ram, the doctors referred them to Ranchi for better treatment after first aid.
The deceased include Satyam Kumar, 9 years, son of Dinesh Bhuiya, resident of Jata village and Devanand Kumar, 8 years, son of Hariprasad Ram. While the injured in the incident include Ranjan Kumar, 8 years, son of Sanjeev Sahu, resident of Jata village, Dipankar Mehta, 9 years, son of Kalicharan Mehta, Divya Bharti, 8 years, son of Ramashrya Ram, Ankush Bharti, 6 years and Uday Ram, son of tempo driver Mahavir Ram.
According to the sources, all the school students study in R N Tagore School. They were going to their homes after school by riding a tempo.  Meanwhile, a pickup coming from the opposite direction at high speed near Jata Highway crossing hit the tempo. Due to which two children died on the spot. The rest of the injured students have been admitted to Sadar Hospital for treatment.  
After the incident, the angry people reached the spot and set another pickup on fire while shouting slogans against the police. After this, the police tried to extinguish the burning pickup with fire extinguishers, but the angry people did not let them extinguish the fire. When the police tried to pacify them a lot, the people became more angry and targeted the police vehicle and damaged half a dozen police vehicles.
After the incident, when the Superintendent of Police reached the spot to get information , the angry people tried to attack him as well. The police lathi-charged to control the angry people. Then the people started pelting stones. After this, the police fired tear gas shells. Then the crowd could be controlled.

Garhwa SDPO Neeraj Kumar said that the driver had fled with the pickup involved in the accident, but another pickup vehicle passing by was set on fire by the angry people and when the police reached the spot, those people started pelting stones at the police and damaged police vehicles. In which about a dozen policemen were injured. Even after lathi charge, when the crowd could not be controlled, 5-6 tear gas shells were fired, then the crowd could be controlled. Peace and order has been completely restored.
Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Pandey, DDC, Pashupati Nath Mishra, SDO Vijay Kumar, SDPO Neeraj Kumar, Video Narendra Narayan also reached the spot.
