In a sensational double murder in Rampur, a car workshop guard and a puncture mechanic were allegedly beaten to death in broad daylight on Tuesday.
Farhad Ali (50), a resident of Ahmednagar Jagir hamlet in Rampur, and Tahir (45), a guard at a car workshop in the Civil Lines area, were attacked outside the workshop on Tuesday morning.
According to SP (City) Atul Srivastava, unidentified assailants used blunt objects to kill the victims and fled the scene unchallenged.
Srivastava said the families of both victims had been contacted but could not provide any information about a possible motive or disputes that might have led to the murders. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and investigations are ongoing.
The police are working to determine whether the crime was a case of robbery and murder or if any personal enmity was involved. Officers are also reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Shahjahanpur, a young woman was hacked to death allegedly by her brother-in-law on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred in the Sadar Bazaar area of Kotwali City, where Nikita alias Komal (23), a resident of Mohalla Lala Teli Bajariya, was allegedly killed by her brother-in-law Anshul Sharma, who slit her throat with a knife, police said.
As per reports, the accused wanted his brother to marry Nikita, but she opposed the idea, leading to the fatal attack.
Nikita’s mother was away buying vegetables when the incident took place at around 11:30 am. Anshul allegedly entered the house and tried to coerce her into agreeing to the marriage. When she refused, he lost his temper and attacked her with a knife.
Police reached the scene and, after identifying the accused, raided his house and arrested him. A case has been registered, and the accused has been sent to jail.
