AIIMS Bhopal continues to lead the way in academic excellence and innovative medical practices.
Emphasizing a culture of knowledge-sharing and continuous learning, AIIMS Bhopal has garnered significant achievements across various academic platforms. Recently, Dr Ketan Mehra of the Department of Urology, AIIMS Bhopal, did a two-month clinical visit from June 01 to July 31, 2024 at the Medical University Vienna, Austria, one of the oldest universities in Europe.
During this, Dr Mehra found that various specialties like oncology, radiology and pathology can be adopted in a integrated manner to improve patient care and management. Apart from urological disorders, he also learned to use advanced techniques in cases like prostate cancer, bladder cancer and kidney stones. These advanced techniques included imaging methods, endoscopic procedures and surgical procedures.
Imaging methods included - MRI, CT scan and ultrasound while surgical procedures included robotic surgery in which laparoscopic surgery is done with the help of robots. During this time, Dr. Mehra also learned the use of advanced laser techniques for stone management and other surgeries.
Professor (Dr) Ajai Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bhopal said that this experience of Dr. Ketan will be helpful in enhancing clinical practices at AIIMS Bhopal.
By adopting these advanced procedures, strengthening educational programs, promoting research collaboration and integrating new technologies, AIIMS Bhopal will significantly improve patient care and benefit health professionals. Professor (Dr) Singh congratulated Dr. Ketan Mehra for his achievement.
