TRAI RO Kolkata recently organized a seminar on “Digital Connectivity Infrastructure for QoS improvement in Building & Housing Complexes” at Hotel Green Horizon, Ranchi. The seminar has been organised in the backdrop of providing conducive digital communication infrastructure and maintaining telecom quality of service in indoor environment in housing and building complexes.
The seminar has been inaugurated by Sh. Ashok Kumar, Additional Director General (Telecom), Department of Telecom, GOI, the Chief Guest of the event, which was well attended by senior officers of TRAI, Department of Telecom (DoT), Government of Jharkhand & Bihar, academia, Telecom Service Providers (TSP), Consumer Advocacy Groups, students and general consumers.
Dr. S. K. Samanta, Advisor, TRAI delivered the welcome address and introduced the distinguished guests of the inaugural session. Sh. Apurb Minz, VP, IIA, Jharkhand Chapter and Prof. Manjari Chakraborty, Department of Architecture, BIT, Mesra were the other distinguished guests of the inaugural session. Sh. Ashok Kumar, Additional DG Telecom, Chief Guest delivered the keynote address of the event.
The deliberations in the seminar were divided in three sessions (the Schedule is annexed). The forenoon session focussed on the role of planners and policy makers for the provision of next generation DCI in buildings and housing complexes. Eminent speakers of the session were Prof. Manjari Chakraborty, Sh. Manoj Mishra, Director, Indus Tower Limited and Sh. Chakrapani K, Nokia Limited. The session was moderated by Dr. S. K. Samanta.
The second session covered the role of real estate developers and RWAs for the provision of DCI in buildings and housing complexes. The session was moderated by Sh. Dilip Kumar, DDG, DoT, Bihar LSA. Sh. Gajanand Ram, VP, Council of Architecture, New Delhi, and Sh. Mrinal Kant, CTO, Airtel, Jharkhand were the speakers of the session.
The third session was a panel discussion on the roles of the concerned stakeholders for the provision of DCI in buildings and housing complexes, moderated by Sh. V V Prasad Pandey, DDG (DoT), Ranchi in which the domain experts deliberated on a no. of contextual issues.
The speakers on this occasion deliberated on wide range of issues pertaining to provision of DCI in buildings and housing complexes.
The seminar was organised in the spirit of pro-active role of TRAI to work in collaboration with the industry, academia and other stakeholders and ensure that regulatory framework fosters new technological developments and trends. From that perspective the seminar concluded successfully.
