State residents get relief after light rainfall

The people of the State Capital got some relief from scorching heat when light rain brought the mercury down on Thursday evening.

Monsoon is yet to enter many districts of Jharkhand. People of these districts are eagerly waiting for the monsoon. On Thursday, many districts including Lohardaga, Simdega, Gumla received good rains. However, rain was not seen in various areas of the Stat, people here are suffering from humid heat.

Gumla received the highest rainfall of 92 mm. During the last 24 hours, Simdega, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, Giridih, Dumka etc. districts also received good rains. However, there was no rain in the last 24 hours in Ranchi and surrounding areas. There was humid heat here on Wednesday.

The Ranchi Weather Center had forecasted that there is a possibility of rain at some places on Thursday. “Whereas, from Friday the activity of monsoon will increase and rain has been predicted in many parts of the state including Ranchi. According to the Meteorological Department, during the last 24 hours, Simdega received 65.0 mm of rain, Netarhat Latehar 52.5 mm, Hazaribagh 52.2 mm, Dhanbad 45.8 mm, Giridih 35 mm, Nala Dumka 25.2 mm and East Singhbhum 35.4 mm of rain. Apart from this, Ramgarh, Bokaro, Godda and Garhwa received five to ten mm of rain and some other places received scattered rain,” it added.

The Meteorological Department also informed that light to moderate rainfall may occur in various areas of the state even today. On June 28, heavy rain is expected in Gumla, Lohardaga, Latehar, Palamu, Chatra, Garhwa. Whereas on June 29, heavy rain is expected in Ranchi, Koderma, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Lohardaga, Latehar, Chatra, Palamu, Garhwa.

In-Charge Ranchi Weather Center, Abhishek Anand said that the monsoon is still weak. “The southwest monsoon is expected to advance in three to four days. A turf is passing through Jharkhand and going towards Manipur. Its effect is expected. On June 27, light rain may occur at some places. On June 28 and June 29, rain may occur at many places. On June 30, all places in the State may receive rain. By June 28, winds may also blow at a speed of 30 to 40 km at many places. Heavy rain is expected in the Palamu area on June 30,” he added.
