The Hemant Soren-led government in Jharkhand is set to expand its Cabinet on December 5. During the ceremony, five ministers from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), four from the Congress, and one from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) are expected to take the oath of office.
Supriyo Bhattacharya, the JMM’s Central General Secretary, announced that the swearing-in ceremony would take place at Raj Bhawan at 12 noon on the specified date.
Bhattacharya highlighted that the new Cabinet would include a blend of experience, energy, and diverse representation, ensuring that all five divisions of Jharkhand are represented. Additionally, he noted that the Cabinet would include representation for youth, women, and farmers.
Regarding the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) [CPI (ML)], Bhattacharya clarified that the party has chosen to support the government’s policies without direct participation in governance.
The list of Congress nominees for the Cabinet has received approval from Rahul Gandhi. On Monday, Jharkhand Congress in-charge Ghulam Ahmed Mir and State Congress President Keshav Mahato Kamlesh met with Gandhi to finalize the names.
Previously, Congress MLA Rameshwar Oraon had discussions with Chief Minister Hemant Soren, where they reached a consensus on the candidates from the Congress quota.
Prominent contenders from the Congress for Cabinet positions include Rameshwar Oraon, Irfan Ansari, Deepika Pandey Singh, Kumar Jayamangal, Pradeep Yadav, Shwettaa Singh, Naman Vikas Kongadi, and Shilpi Neha Tirkey.
Meanwhile, RJD MLA Suresh Paswan is likely to represent his party in the Cabinet.
Bhattacharya also said that the amount of Rs 2500 of Mainiyna Samman Yojana will be sent to the accounts of women on December 11.
He attacked the BJP and Babulal Marandi and said that BJP has suffered a setback after the election results. He said that in this assembly election, JMM has won 27 out of 28 reserved seats and there is very little difference in the one seat that is left. He said, after this, BJP State President Babulal Marandi has become a little active after the results. He said that he has given some suggestions to the Government. Marandi has given suggestions regarding primitive tribes and in this suggestion, concern has been expressed especially about the Pahadia tribe.
Bhattacharya further said that BJP has a tribal CM in Odisha and Chhattisgarh and 15 tribes have been identified as primitive tribes there. The JMM leader has requested Babulal to visit Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. He said that Marandi should study these states and he should see the condition of the primitive tribes there and their economic, social and educational condition. He said that nothing is going to happen just by shedding crocodile tears. He warned Babulal Marandi and said that you should not fall into the trap of outside leaders. He asked, did you ever discuss the tree tribes working in the tea gardens of Assam.
