Speakers from various walks of life shared their experiences at the TEDx Kanke on Sunday at MTI SAIL in Ranchi. The theme ‘A New Era’ had orators ranging from 16 years to 74 years of age as they explored the concept of sustainability, technology, personal growth and the future of humanity.
The event also highlighted how green energy is emerging as the only viable alternative to combat the growing challenges of climate change fueled by rising carbon emissions. At the same time, discussion on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and space research based employment showcased the dual challenges and opportunities shaping the future.
The youngest speaker, 16- year old Sharaddha Sharma who is a space researcher, inspired young minds to explore the cosmos and encouraged schools to introduce space science in their curriculum to not only make it accessible but also demystify its perceived financial barriers. While 74- year old Mahesh Poddar- former MP and entrepreneur shared his wisdom on creating employment opportunities through MSMEs by emphasising on their role as the backbone of sustainable development.
India’s face in formula 4 racing Aashi Hanspal shared her journey on overcoming gender biases in motorsports whereas renowned golfer Vaani Kapoor highlighted the importance of leveraging individual strengths to achieve global success. Yoga guru Vasundhara Talware emphasised on mastering the art of controlling the senses to foster spiritual and physical well- being.
Pramod Aggarwal, former IAS and Chairman of Coal India highlighted the urgency to shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy like solar and wind power by citing their cost effectiveness and environmental benefits. Padma Shri Dr Ashok Rajgopal, an orthopedic surgeon with over 55000 surgeries expressed his skepticism about the effectiveness of robotic surgeries and stressed on the importance of enhancing traditional tools to meet modern needs.
The iconic voice of Bigg Boss- Vijay Vikram Singh, an actor and motivational speaker, encouraged the audience to focus on inner strength and embrace change as the only constant in life.
The event concluded with a folk fusion performance by the ETC band whose innovative renditions of popular tracks left the audience spellbound.
On the occasion Sanjay Dhar, CGM, MTI SAIL, Rajeev Gupta curator TEDx Kanke and Utkarsh Kumar SDO Ranchi further underscored the event’s significance in shaping Jharkhand’s narrative as a hub of innovation and progress.
