Union Home Minister Amit Shah electrified the city with a massive roadshow on Saturday, as he campaigned for BJP’s bid to reclaim power in the State. Riding through crowded streets, Shah was visibly moved by the overwhelming turnout, later expressing on social media platform X, “The love and enthusiasm of the people in Jamshedpur show that the BJP is set to come to power in Jharkhand.” The show of support underscored BJP’s strategic efforts to consolidate its voter base in the region ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Accompanying Shah were two prominent faces of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Jamshedpur: BJP’s Purnima Sahu, contesting from the Jamshedpur East seat, and Saryu Rai of the Janata Dal (United), the NDA’s candidate for the Jamshedpur West seat. Together, they rode through the city in an open-top vehicle, waving to crowds and greeting supporters as flower petals rained down upon them.
The streets of Jamshedpur were filled with the fervent chants of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” as thousands of locals lined up to witness the spectacle. Youth, women, and elderly citizens stood side by side, waving flags and cheering as the Home Minister’s convoy made its way through the heart of the city. Many locals saw the roadshow as an opportunity to show their support for the BJP, while others viewed it as an important moment for Jamshedpur in the national political spotlight.
Throughout the rally, the fervor and optimism were evident among BJP supporters, who expressed hope for political change. “Amit Shah’s presence here shows the seriousness with which BJP is taking Jharkhand,” said Ravi Singh, a local businessman who attended the roadshow. “We need stronger leadership to address our city’s issues, and seeing the Home Minister here gives us confidence that BJP is ready to make that change.”
The decision to spotlight Jamshedpur East and West in this roadshow reflects BJP’s strategic focus on these key constituencies. Jamshedpur East, a highly contested seat, has long been a battleground between the BJP and its rivals. This time, with Purnima Sahu as the BJP candidate and the support of NDA’s Saryu Roy in Jamshedpur West, the alliance aims to consolidate its influence across the steel city.
The roadshow’s route covered several key areas in Jamshedpur, where party workers, dressed in saffron, had meticulously prepared decorations and flags. The sight of the Home Minister in an open vehicle, alongside Sahu and Rai, drew cheers and chants from every corner. Local resident Preeti Mishra, who participated in the rally, described the excitement: “It’s not every day that a leader of Amit Shah’s stature comes here. The energy in the crowd reflects our hope for positive change under BJP.”
