AAP leaders including Chhatarpur MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar, former Delhi minister and former Patel Nagar MLA Raaj Kumar Anand and former Patel Nagar MLA Veena Anand joined the BJP on Wednesday months ahead of Delhi Legislative Assembly in the presence of senior leaders at the party headquarters in Delhi.
Anand had joined BSP after quitting AAP earlier and fought on its ticket unsuccessfully in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 from the New Delhi seat. His deposit was seized as he secured less than 10 per cent of votes. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva stated that the AAP Municipal Councilor from Said-Ul-Ajaib ward in South Delhi Umed Singh Phogat, Former state in-charge of AAP Ratnesh Gupta and co-in-charge Shri Sachin Rai joined BJP.
Sachdeva stated how Rajkumar Anand not only accused the Kejriwal government of being anti-Dalit but also proved it. "Rajkumar Anand was not able to do the work of his society and his people in the Kejriwal government despite wanting to and due to this pain he decided to leave the AAP and join the BJP, so we welcome his decision," he said.
Anand alleged, "When I became the minister of Delhi, at that time I felt that people are running around for their work but the government is not concerned about it. I could not tolerate this and I resigned from my ministerial post. Thousands of crores of rupees that came for the development of Dalit children have vanished. The Kejriwal government completely wasted the money of Dalit children in its politics."
Further, while introducing Tanwar who was earlier in the BJP before 2014, the Delhi BJP chief said, "Tanwar is a leader with an honest image who has done a lot of work in the interest of the public. With the arrival of such comrades, not only will the BJP become stronger in Delhi, but we will get more support in the campaign we have started against the corruption of the Kejriwal government."
The Chhatarpur MLA said, "In the last 20 to 25 years I have been working in social interests.
The people of Delhi supported me but in the last two years Delhi has become miserable and is completely involved in corruption."
He claimed that the biggest corruption in the country has taken place in Delhi.
"Today the condition of Delhi is very bad and we are not able to do anything as per the government's policy. Instead of work, the game of allegations has been going on for the last three months," he said.
BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh was also present among other leaders to welcome them. Attacking the AAP and Congress alliance in Lok Sabha, Arun Singh stated, "if we add up the seats of Congress in the last three elections, even that does not equal the 240 seats of BJP this time. In Delhi, the people of Delhi rejected both Congress and AAP because AAP is a party that supports liquor mafias."
He stated that Delhi has such a Chief Minister in whose residence a woman parliamentarian is molested, so what will the people of Delhi expect from him.
