Seven accused sentenced to 7 year RI in Vyapam cases

The ASJ & Special Judge, CBI, Vyapam Cases, Bhopal on Tuesday sentenced seven accused including three candidates and four impersonators namely Vivek Tyagi Sunil Rawat & Charan Singh Sikarwar (all three candidates) and Vijendra Singh Rawat, Hariom Rawat, Sriniwas Singhal & Sandeep Prasad Nayak (all four  impersonators) to 7 Years’ Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs 90,000 in a Vyapam scam case.

This case was initially registered with STF police station of  Bhopal vide FIR No. 10/2015 on May 16, 2015 against three accused persons viz. 03 candidates and unknown middlemen and others. STF had filed 01 charge-sheet dated 12.08.2015 in the instant case against 06 accused persons and further investigation of the case was kept open for identifying and tracing of other accused and for collecting additional evidence against the charge sheeted accused persons.

In compliance of the orders dated 09.07.2015 of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, the instant case was re-registered by CBI on 14.08.2015 against all accused persons as charge-sheeted by STF for further investigation. During its investigation, CBI traced all the absconding accused persons and examined them. Further, the expert opinion with respect to handwritings, thumb impressions, photographs, CCTV Video recording, etc. were obtained from CFSL, Mumbai and CFSL, New Delhi.

After the completion of investigation, supplementary chargesheet was filed on 31.08.2018 by CBI, against the accused persons including those convicted by the Court on Tuesday.
