: Citing safety concerns due to the upcoming foggy weather conditions, South Eastern Railway (SER) has announced the cancellation of the Jallianwala Bagh Express for the winter season 2024-25. The decision was made in view of poor visibility during fog, which often leads to disruptions in train services and poses risks to passenger safety.
The following services will be affected: Train No. 18103 - Tatanagar-Amritsar Express will be cancelled from 02.12.2024 to 26.02.2025. Train No. 18104 - Amritsar-Tatanagar Express will be cancelled from 04.12.2024 to 28.02.2025.
An official from South Eastern Railway stated, “Fog during the winter months significantly reduces visibility, increasing the risk of accidents and delays. In the interest of passenger safety and smooth operations, we have decided to cancel these services during the fog-prone period.”
Passengers who have already booked tickets for these dates are advised to check with Indian Railways for refunds or alternate travel arrangements. SER has urged passengers to stay updated on further announcements related to train schedules through the official Indian Railways website or customer care services.
“We understand the inconvenience caused by these cancellations, but safety remains our top priority,” the official added. In anticipation of the upcoming foggy season for 2024-25, several train services will be cancelled to ensure passenger safety and operational efficiency, according to a statement released by Indian Railways.
A railway official stated, “Fog severely affects visibility, which in turn compromises the safety of train operations. To prevent any potential mishaps and minimize delays, we have decided to cancel certain trains during the peak fog period.”
The following trains will be affected by the cancellations: Train No. 12873 - Hatia-Anand Vihar Express: Cancelled from 02.12.2024 to 09.01.2025 Train No. 12874 - Anand Vihar-Hatia Express: Cancelled from 03.12.2024 to 10.01.2025 Train No. 22857 - Santragachi-Anand Vihar Express: Cancelled from 02.12.2024 to 06.01.2025 and Train No. 22858 - Anand Vihar-Santragachi Express: Cancelled from 03.12.2024 to 07.01.2025.
Addressing the potential inconvenience, the official added, “While we understand that this may cause discomfort to some passengers, safety remains our top priority. We urge passengers to check the updated schedule and make alternative travel arrangements.”
