The School Education and Literacy Department has again changed the school timings. In a letter issued by the department, it has been said that in view of the effect of the ongoing heat wave in the state, classes from class KG to class 12 in all categories of government, non-government aided/non-aided (including minority) and all private schools operating in the state will be conducted from 7:00 am to 11:30 am till further orders.

It is worth noting that in view of the severe heat and heatwave alert, the Jharkhand government had decided to keep all schools from KG to 12th closed till June 15. Before that, the department had decided to operate the schools from 7 am to 11:30 am till June 15.

The severe heatwave conditions in Jharkhand have left residents grappling with intense discomfort, making it difficult for them to venture out on the roads. The scorching winds have proven to be a challenge not only for people but also for animals.

The Meteorological Center in Ranchi has issued an orange alert for severe heatwave conditions in the districts of Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Deoghar, Godda, Jamtara, and Dumka.

According to the Meteorological Centre, there is a possibility of scattered rainfall and thunderstorms in some areas of these districts due to local weather systems. However, the overall heatwave conditions are expected to persist, exacerbating the already challenging situation for the residents.

While the monsoon made an early arrival in Kerala, arriving two days ahead of schedule, its progress has been slower than anticipated, dashing hopes for timely relief in Jharkhand. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and urging residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this intense heatwave period.
