A truck filled with sand mowed down a 28-year-old man in front of Arjun Nagar Shiv temple located in Ayodhya Nagar police station area in the night on Tuesday.
The man died on the spot in the accident. The accused driver fled leaving the dumper. The police have seized the truck and started an investigation. After the postmortem on Wednesday afternoon, the body was handed over to the family.
Police Head constable Manish Mishra said that Ritesh Rajput (28)of Jheel Nagar Ayodhya Nagar. He used to work with a private firm.
He was returning home from duty on the intervening night of Wednesday while crossing the road in front of Shiv temple located in Arjun Nagar, Ritesh's bike was hit by a truck bearing registration APMI04HE9670 from the front. The man died on the spot in the accident.
The maternal uncle of the deceased said that his nephew often returned late from work at night. Like every day, he was returning home late at night, during which he became a victim of the accident. The dumper filled with sand was moving at a high speed. Due to which he lost control of the dumper and hit Ritesh along with his bike.
Vinod said that his nephew got married two years ago. At present he had no children.
Ritesh was the only earning member in the family. His father is ill, he is on bed rest after a paralysis attack. The police have seized the truck.
