In the face of continuing disregard for his instructions calling for enhanced sanitary conditions at public utilities, Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan on Wednesday levied a Rs 5,000 spot fine on the Sulabh centre at Bhadbhada Road.
The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) official was inspecting cleanliness arrangements at various localities in the state capital. He urged civic health officials and sanitation staff to keep in mind the Swachh Survekshan benchmarks while setting enhanced cleanliness standards.Narayan directed the collection of a Rs 5,000 spot fine and also ordered improvements to the facilities at the public convenience.
He also directed the efficient and systematic use of CNG-operated vehicles, keeping in mind pollution control and diesel savings.The Municipal Commissioner also visited the Bhadbhada Dam and instructed the cleaning of water hyacinth and weeds from a nearby pond.
The inspection was conducted at Suraj Nagar, Neelbad, Bharatmata Chauraha, Bhadbhada Road, Kerwa Dam Road, and the vicinity of the Sai Sports Centre to assess cleanliness arrangements.He further instructed, through both direct and VC (video conferencing) methods, that cleanliness work should be conducted in accordance with Swachh Survekshan standards.
Narayan said that CNG-operated vehicles should be better organised for pollution control and diesel saving.
