Chatra Police have achieved great success against opium trade in the State. On the instructions of SP Vikas Pandey, during the anti-crime cum vehicle checking campaign being conducted near Balbal check point located on the border of Chatra-Hazaribagh district, police have arrested a smuggler with about 45 kg of banned opium. On his behest, the house of Rajendra Dangi, resident of Pandeyatola village of Gidhaur police station area, was raided and he was also arrested along with 25 grams of banned heroin.
The estimated value of the opium recovered by the police is Rs 2 crore, while the estimated value of the recovered heroin is Rs 5 lakh. Apart from this, the police have also recovered a Maruti Suzuki car and a scooter used in smuggling. The names of the two smugglers arrested in this case are Lalan Dangi and Rajendra Dangi. Both are residents of Gidhaur police station area.
SP Vikas Pandey said in a press conference that the police got this success during the anti-crime vehicle checking campaign being run on the basis of information. He said that earlier yesterday the police team had arrested one smuggler with banned brown sugar worth Rs 1 lakh 38 thousand. The SP said that this is the biggest success of Chatra Police against drug dealers.
