Rise above caste, religion, vote without any inducement: Governor

A state level Voter's Day program was organized at Aryabhatta Auditorium of Ranchi University on Thursday. Governor CP Radhakrishnan was present as the chief guest at the event. Addressing the 'National Voters' Day' programme, he said that voting rights are a powerful weapon for voters in a democracy. People should rise above caste, religion, sect and temptation and exercise their right to vote. This will strengthen democracy. The Election Commission of India has been continuously working for a strong and powerful democracy since its inception and continuous work is being done to make the voters aware. This year's theme has been kept by the Election Commission - 'There is nothing like voting, we will definitely vote'. He said that to make this theme successful, vote in maximum numbers and also motivate people to vote.

He said that the basis of democracy is public opinion and the basis of public opinion is voting. Voting for a qualified person strengthens democracy. Technology is also being used by the Election Commission to make voters aware. C-Vigil, Voter Helpline App, Suvidha App etc. are examples of these. He said that the results of this voter awareness have also been reflected.

He said that his name has also been included in the voter list of Jharkhand and he will definitely exercise his franchise. He distributed 'Voter Photo Identity Card' to new voters and called upon everyone to exercise their franchise. On the occasion, the officials who did excellent work in the elections were honoured and 'Voter Pledge' was taken by everyone.

Aditi Kumari, Aditi Sneh, Lavanya Singh, Harshita Gupta, Aditya Kumar Shubham as new voters, Savitri Singh, Moti Lal Sahu as elderly voters and Gopika Anand as disabled voters were honoured.

The officials and employees who were honoured included Ravi Shankar Shukla, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Ananya Mittal, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, West Singhbhum, Vipin Kumar Dubey, Electoral Registration Officer, 73 Manika (SC) Assembly Constituency, Dipankar Chaudhary, Electoral Registration Officer, 15 Deoghar (SC) Assembly Constituency, Mukesh Machhuwa, Electoral Registration Officer, 54 Jagannathpur (SC) Assembly Constituency, Bandhan Long, Deputy Electoral Officer, West Singhbhum, Shailesh Kumar Singh, Deputy Election Officer, Deoghar, Devdas Dutta, Under Secretary-cum-Assistant Chief Electoral Officer, Nutan Kumari, Cabinet (Election) Department, Jharkhand, Chandan Thakur, District Election Office, Omkar Mishra, District Election Office, East Singhbhum, Yusuf Badar, District Election Office, Chatra, Shashi Mohan Singh, District Election Office, Palamu, Deepesh Kumar, District Election Office, Ranchi.

In the program, Governor CP Radhakrishnan along with his Principal Secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni, Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Ranchi University Dr. Ajit Kumar Sinha, Commissioner Chhota Nagpur Dashrath Chandra Das, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Sandeep Singh, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Neha Arora, Deputy Commissioner Ranchi Rahul Kumar Sinha along with others were present.
