Miscreants targetted the deserted house of retired Assistant General Manager of Bank of India in Kohefiza police station area of Bhopal and stole goods worth Rs 20 lakh including gold and silver jewelery from their place.
The accused had entered the house by breaking the central lock of the main door. The thieves even stole the DVR of the CCTV installed in the house, so that they could not be captured on camera.
According to the police, Shailendra Srivastava (60) of Vijay Nagar Lalghati, is retired from Bank of India. On January 12 around 6:15 am, he along with his family had gone to Ahmedabad. All the family members returned home on the evening of Sunday 14 January. After coming back he saw that the central lock of the main door of the house was damaged and the latch was broken.
On entering the house gold and silver jewelery and cash were found stolen. The miscreants escaped with Rs 4 lakh kept in the box. The total loss in the burglary was around Rs 20 lakh.
Shailendra Srivastava told the police that his father who was a government teacher died recently father's cash was kept in an old box. The miscreants broke the lock of that box and also stole the money.
Meanwhile a case of theft of three bikes from Jain Nagar in Lalghati of the state capital was reported with the Koh-e-fiza police.
The miscreants committed the crime on the night of January 8. After investigation, the police have registered a case of bike theft against unknown thieves. The businessman has also given CCTV footage of the incident to the police.
Ankit Soni, resident of Lalghati Jain Nagar told the police that on the night of January 8, unknown bike thieves broke the lock of the porch of the house and stole the bike kept there.
This bike was registered in the name of elder brother Akhilesh. According to Ankit, the thieves entered the porch by breaking the lock of the main gate and stole two other bikes from the house by breaking their handle locks.
