Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan, on Monday, instructed health officials and sanitation staff to heighten cleanliness in green belts, side and central verges, and all entry roads into the state capital.
Narayan was inspecting cleanliness arrangements in the city. He advocated for an enhancement in sanitary conditions to meet the standards of the Swachh Survey 2024.
He also visited public convenience centres and requested improvements in their appearance by carrying out necessary repairs and repainting of the utilities. The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief visited various areas of the city, including Link Road No. 01, Chetak Bridge, Anna Nagar, ITI Road, JK Road, Meenal Residency, Ayodhya Bypass, Bhanpur, Bhopal Memorial Over Bridge, Chhola Road, Hamidia Road, Jail Road, and others.
He directed health department officials to ensure the prompt removal of waste from the main roads, side verges, and green belts.
He also urged citizens and officials to refrain from the practice of dumping garbage in green belts.
Narayan emphasised that the side and central verges at the city’s entry points should remain clean and tidy, so that citizens entering the city can experience the city’s distinct identity.
Narayan was accompanied by the Assistant Health Officer (AHO) of Zone 16 during the inspection, when he came across scattered dirt, garbage, and piles of waste in the side verges and green belts of Ayodhya Bypass, Bhanpur, Bhopal Memorial Over Bridge, and other areas. He gave strict instructions to improve the cleanliness of these areas and provide a better appearance.
The Municipal Commissioner also gave strong instructions to focus particularly on cleanliness in Zones 12 and 16.
