Girawar of Shajapur recorded night temperature of 5.9 degree celsius which was lowest of the state on Sunday night while  lakhs of people witnessed the largest Muslim congregation in the country organised in the state capital recording Sunday night temperature at 8.5 degree celsius.

Bhopal continued to remain in the top 5-6 places of lowest night temperature in the state. The night temperature was recorded 3.4 degree celsius below the normal temperature.

A trend of severe cold in the second fortnight of December in Bhopal is witnessed for years. In the last 10 years, the night temperature remained below 9 degrees. In the year 2021 temperature went down steeply at 3.4 degrees. Similar weather is expected this time as well. There may be rain along with severe cold.

According to the Meteorological Department, Bhopal will also be affected by Western Disturbance in December. Due to this, the temperature may drop even during the day. The period of severe cold will start from December 20, which will last for the entire month of January.

Earlier, the temperature remained below 10 degrees on Sunday-Monday night as well. At the same time, light fog cover was witnessed on Monday morning.

This year the effect of the cold is intense as the cold conditions experienced were lowest in the past 36 years in November.

The night temperatures dipped appreciably below normal in the districts of Bhopal, Indore, and Ujjain, while they dip below normal in the districts of Narmadapuram, Rewa, Shahdol, and Sagar.
