In a significant breakthrough, Counter Intelligence Amritsar has seized over Rs 1.07 crore in drug money and apprehended two operatives linked to foreign-based drug kingpins Gurjant Singh alias Bholu and Kinderbir Singh alias Sunny Dyal.

The state Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, announcing the development on Sunday, said that the arrested individuals, identified as Dilbag Singh from Lohka village and Kamaldeep Singh from Patti in Tarn Taran, were caught with a money counting machine, two mobile phones, and a Maruti Swift car.

The arrests followed intelligence inputs indicating that Bholu and Dyal were running an organized crime syndicate involved in drug trafficking and illegal weapons distribution. They had instructed their operatives to collect drug money and send it via the hawala route.

DGP Yadav detailed that the Counter Intelligence team arrested the duo from a rented accommodation on Fatehgarh Churian road in Amritsar. Preliminary investigations revealed that Dilbag and Kamaldeep were in constant contact with Bholu and Dyal through encrypted social media platforms and were planning to send the seized money using the hawala route.

Both Gurjant Bholu and Sunny Dyal have multiple criminal cases against them. Further investigations are underway to uncover more links in the drug trafficking network.

A case, dated July 27, 2024, has been registered under various sections of the NDPS Act, the Arms Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act at the Police Station State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar. The arrested individuals will be produced in court to seek police remand for further interrogation.
