Chainpur police in Palamu busted a rare kind of theft in the record time of one day. The theft used to be of the cell phone tower batteries. Here the thieves were choosy and selective.
They used to steal only the batteries of the Reliance Jio towers. The thieves did not bother for other network tower batteries. Officer in charge of the Chainpur police station Ram Sharma said "The thieves were very selective. They used to steal Reliance Jio tower batteries."
Police officer Sharma said "A Reliance Jio tower battery comes in 48 kgs. The other tower battery of the other network comes in 2 kgs."
Sharma said the thieves knew if they stole one Reliance Jio battery, then it will be a 48 kg possession but if they steal other network tower batteries then it will be just a jumble of smaller batteries of 2kgs and the booty could be quite a cumbersome load only.
Once they used to steal batteries of the Reliance Jio tower, they used to carry it in an ambulance so as not to cause any interception by the police on the road and no one could ever think about an ambulance being used as a vessel for the stolen goods.
Sharma said the theft of the Reliance Jio tower battery was done on the intervening night of May 21/22. The incident of theft happened at the Basarya tower under the Chainpur police station limits.
An FIR was lodged by the technician of the Reliance Jio tower Satender Singh with the Chainpur police station on May 22. The theft case cracked within hours.
