The Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine at AIIMS Bhopal in connection with its 11th Foundation day is organizing week long programs from April 3rd to April 6, 2024. This significant event marks a celebration of the department's dedication to advancing healthcare through education, research, and community engagement.
The Week long programs were formally inaugurated today by Prof. (Dr) Ajai Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal. Prof. Singh emphasized the department's commitment to excellence in healthcare provision and medical education. An oration on the "Role of Oncopathologist in the Management of Cancer: Past, Present, and Future" was delivered by Professor (Dr) Shubhada Kane Former Head, Pathology, TMH, Mumbai and a Consultant Pathologist at Jaslok Hospital Mumbai.
On this occasion a book authored by Dr Shakti Kumar Yadav, Assistant Professor, Pathology and Lab Medicine, AIIMS Bhopal titled "Clinical Laboratory Management "was also released. Earlier, Professor (Dr) Vaishali Walke HOD while welcoming the guests presented an overview of departmental journey and achievements in the past one year.
As part of the Foundation Week, a series of events have been planned, covering a wide array of topics related to cancer diagnosis, management, and awareness. A Cervical Cancer Awareness and Screening Camp was held on April 3rd at the Primary Health Centre, Goharganj, District Raisen, in collaboration with the Department of Community and Family Medicine and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Tomorrow, a special teaching session will be conducted for postgraduate students by Dr Shubhada Kane on the "Diagnostic Dilemma in Follicular Neoplasm of Thyroid and Role of Ancillary Diagnostic Techniques." Apart from this various competitions, including a Rangoli competition and a debate competition for undergraduate students, centered around themes of breast cancer pathology, awareness, and diagnosis are being organized.
Besides, in collaboration with the DIAMOnDs project, the Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine is organizing a "CME cum Workshop: Biomarker Interpretation in Breast Cancer" on April 6.
