Panja wrestlers from various parts of the country showed their skills in different weight categories during the Panja National Wrestling Competition held at the Dr. Bhagwat Sahai Medical College Auditorium here today.
150 players from 6 states participated in this competition, in which Ritesh Kumar got second place in 60 kg weight category, Kashi got third place, Ajay Bijoria got fourth place, Raman Kumar got fifth place. Similarly Prashant, Ankit, Islam Khan, Mir Zafar Ali won in 70 kg. Anil, Madhusudan, Aniket Kumar, Shivam Gurjar won in 80 kg weight category. Abdul, Gulshan Majhi, Jang Bahadur, Ravneet Kakkar of Chhattisgarh were the winners in 90 kg weight category. Devendra Singh, Tanishq Mishra, Gaurav Singh, Krishna Rajawat won in 90 plus. The organization's president Keshav Pandey told that a cash prize of 18 thousand rupees was given in each weight category and a cash prize of 15 thousand was given to the champion of champions. In total, cash prizes worth 1.05 lakh were given.
Devendra from Haryana won the Sharma Memorial Open Arm Wrestling overall Championship.
The competition was inaugurated by Devendra Pratap Singh Tomar and the prize distribution was done by LIC's SDM Khalil Ahmed Khan. Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Panja Wrestling Association Tariq Khan from Bhopal, President Uttar Pradesh Arm Wrestling Praveen Singh Jadoun, Secretary of Gwalior Arm Wrestling Organization Dr. Aditya Bhadauria, Vice President Dr. Vishal Yadav, Treasurer Thakur Yogendra and special guest Lakshmi Sharma from Security Agency were present in the said competition.
