DC Palamu Shashi Ranjan's invocation to a dialogue of Shah Rukh Khan at the electoral literacy club workshop in YSN Mahila college Daltonganj very recently has evoked intense comments.
The dialogue was from the 2007 musical romance film Om Shanti Om starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anupam Kher and others. The dialogue was if someone's desires are intense and passionate, the Nature or Creation helps in achieving it, in nutshell and in plain English as Khan's dialogue has not been dubbed here in English.
Shashi Ranjan read this dialogue of Shah Rukh Khan. He read it most ordinarily without showing any of his theatrical skill. The girls had heard him with rapt attention. However when DC Shashi Ranjan pushed off for his works, the girls who had heard this dialogue, began to air their views.
This correspondent met a Hijab wearing girl who said "It's a pleasure to hear our DC invoking dialogue of Shah Rukh Khan." This Muslim girl was happy to say that DC pronounced the word 'shiddat' very accurately. She said she would have felt sorry for him had he made pronunciation of it like sidat!
There was another girl in an ultra modern outfit. She said "His speech is terrific. I never believed that he would be so fond of this dialogue of Shah Rukh Khan. It's very appealing."
A girl from a rural background said "Who says speech does not matter. It matters most if it is heard. Normally in functions like this where a sort of awareness is done, listening to speech gets secondary overtaken by gossip or chatting there."
This function was covered by a handful of print media fellows who also (barring the Pioneer correspondent) missed this dialogue speaking and wrote their copies in the most bland way.
Shashi Ranjan is the second DC in only 5 years to use dialogue of a film star for creating awareness about voting and why first time voters must not miss to vote.
In 2019 Lok sabha election here the then DC Palamu Shantanu Kumar Agrahari had sung a rap song of 1 minute. Agrahari had sung his rap song in action. It was accompanied by the foot tapping music in the background.
Agrahari's rap song was a high favourite then. It helped significantly in the increase in voting percentage then.
