NIT Jamshedpur hosted the second edition of its Industry-Academia Conclave (IAC-2024) from November 15–17, marking a significant milestone in fostering collaboration between academia and industry. Dedicated to Padma Vibhushan Late Ratan Tata, the conclave, themed "Vikshit Bharat – Vikshit Jharkhand," emphasized innovation, sustainability, and self-reliance as key drivers for India’s progress by 2047.
The event concluded with the signing of three MoUs with IIT Jodhpur, RVSCET Jamshedpur, and Ramgarh College to enhance research collaborations. IAC-2024 reinforced NIT Jamshedpur's commitment to driving India’s progress through academia-industry partnerships, setting the stage for a sustainable and innovative future aligned with the vision of "Vikshit Bharat – Vikshit Jharkhand."
The final day of the conclave featured two major highlights. The first was a panel discussion on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental Accountability in Mining Operations, where industry and academic stalwarts, including Amitanjan Nandi (Damodar Valley Corporation), Mr. P.B. Sinha (FEURST Inc., France), Dr. S.K. Chaulya, and Dr. N.K. Mohalik (CSIR-CIMFR), deliberated on the challenges and solutions for balancing economic growth with environmental sustainability in mining. They discussed the importance of technological innovations, climate-conscious regulations, and inclusive mining policies for Jharkhand and beyond.
The second highlight was the Circuit Design & Simulation Hackathon, organized in collaboration with VLSI System Design (VSD), Bangalore. Dedicated to Ratan Tata’s vision of empowering individuals through technology, the event saw participants develop circuit designs using open-source tools. After rigorous evaluations, Sangesh S from Patiala, Punjab, emerged as the winner, followed by Nalinkumar S from Bangalore, Karnataka, and Sree Vishnu Varthini S from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Prof. Amit Patra highlighted the role of open-source tools in advancing VLSI design during the event.
During the closing ceremony, Prof. Goutam Sutradhar presented a detailed report, expressing gratitude to the co-organizers, including IITs and NITs from across the country, and the sponsors, such as Tata Steel, Powergrid, Greenko Group, and NTPC. He highlighted the participation of 72 delegates from 28 premier institutes, 46 industry representatives, and 43 stalls showcasing cutting-edge innovations. The conclave also featured five impactful panel discussions on topics like Industry 4.0, Renewable Energy Integration, and Digital Twin Technology, as well as a model competition with ₹1 lakh in prizes and cultural performances.
