The Capital Repair (Mechanical) Department of BSL inaugurated the replacement of a 650-meter, 1000-mm diameter pipe inside the blast furnace joint water tunnel of BF Line No. 03 near tunnel opening No. 6 of Blast Furnace #3. The inauguration was conducted by BSL's Director Incharge, B.K. Tiwari. The ceremony was attended by Executive Director (HR and additional charge of operations) Rajan Prasad, Executive Director (Finance and Accounts) Suresh Rangani, Chief General Manager, and other senior officials.
Director Incharge Tiwari congratulated the Capital Repair (Mechanical) and Water Management departments for completing this challenging task and called for the adoption of similar challenging projects in the future. He also honored some of the contract workers involved in this project.
This pipeline, established in 1972, had been in continuous use for the past five decades. It is critical for supplying water to the blast furnace, ensuring its smooth operation. Under the leadership of Chief General Manager (Maintenance) P.K. Baisakhia, Chief General Manager (Mechanical) V.K. Singh, and Head of Capital Repair (Mechanical) Prakash Kumar, the officials of the Capital Repair (Mechanical) and Water Management departments undertook the task of replacing the entire L-3 pipeline without affecting the smooth production of the blast furnace.
Notably under the leadership of General Manager of Capital Repair-Mechanical, Prakash Kumar, Assistant General Managers Manish and Venkateshwar Kumar, Senior Managers V.K. Verma, Amit Kumar, and D.P. Singh, Deputy Manager Amit Chaudhary, Assistant Manager Abhishek Arora, and other departmental employees, along with contract workers, successfully faced the challenges of replacing the pipe. All tasks were executed successfully and on time.
