Friday, 13 December 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

A Nagpuri poetry collection "Palash Kar Phool" written by Prof. (Retd) Kedar Nath Das was released and discussion on the same was held at the Nagpuri Department of the Faculty of Tribal and Regional Languages, Ranchi University, here on Thursday.

The Introduction was given by Professor Dr. Umesh Nand Tiwari, thanks by Dr. Reeju Nayak and the programme was conducted by Dr. Birendra Kumar Mahato.

Head of the Department, Nagpuri, Dr. Savita Keshari said that literature is the mirror of the society. Professor Das has worked to give a new direction to Nagpuri language literature. She said that there was a time when there was a shortage of books in Nagpuri language. This language was not given any importance, due to which Nagpuri was called Ganwari language. Later, along with the publication of many magazines in this language, it started getting prominent coverage in local newspapers and radio-doordarshan.

Dr Keshri said that many scholars have proved that Nagpuri is an independent language. In such a situation, Prof. Kedar Nath Das's poetry collection 'Palash Kar Phool' is a beginning for the Nagpuri society.

The chief speaker, Dr. Rizwan Ali, head of the postgraduate Urdu department, said that poetry is that which touches our heart. The smell of our soil attracts the mind of every person. Nagpuri is a contact language, which is the most popular. Prof. Das has given a gift to the Nagpuri society by writing the poetry collection 'Palash Kar Phool'. For this, the entire Nagpuri society will remain indebted to poet Kedar Nath Das.

He said that through his collection, the poet has worked to gather his life's experiences, struggles and happiness and sorrows in one place. The poet himself has been associated with the Jharkhand movement for a long time, due to which he has highlighted every aspect of life.

While discussing the work, the speaker Major Dr Maheshwar Sarangi said that there was a tradition of writing songs in Nagpuri, but now poetry has started being written in full swing, which is a good sign for the Nagpuri society. He said that the poet has written down what he has seen, heard and experienced in the society. He said that literature affects the society. As the language grows, the society will develop.

Writer Prof Kedar Nath Das said that in his poetry collection, he has tried to present all the experiences of his life in front of the society in the form of literature. He said, “If you want to destroy a person or a society, then destroy its language and culture, it will automatically perish. Therefore, every person in the society needs to create and create literature in his mother tongue, only then we and our existence will be saved.”
