The Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) marked a historic milestone as 20 of its cadets secured spots in the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Technical Entry Scheme (TES) merit lists, making it the institute’s most successful year to date. A grand felicitation ceremony was held at the MRSAFPI campus in SAS Nagar, Mohali, on Sunday to honour the achievements of these outstanding cadets, celebrating their journey to becoming future officers of the Indian Armed Forces.
Cadet Armaanpreet Singh, who topped the All-India Order of Merit for the NDA, and Cadet Karman Singh Talwar, who achieved the second rank in the TES-52 course merit list, were among the 10 cadets from MRSAFPI’s 12th course recognized during the ceremony.
In April 2024, the NDA entrance exam saw nearly six lakh students from across India compete for limited spots. After clearing the written exam, the top candidates underwent rigorous assessments at the Services Selection Boards (SSB). MRSAFPI cadets excelled in both stages, with Cadet Armaanpreet Singh securing first place in the NDA All-India Merit List and Cadet Keshav Singla taking the 15th position. Out of 24 MRSAFPI cadets who cleared the NDA written exam, 16 successfully passed the SSB interviews and were included in the final merit list. In the TES-52 merit list, Cadet Karman Singh Talwar secured the second rank, along with three other cadets from the institute who also cleared the TES SSB.
Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training Minister Aman Arora applauded the cadets’ achievements, underscoring the Punjab Government’s commitment to helping the state’s youth achieve their aspirations to serve as officers in the Defence Services. He expressed pride in MRSAFPI’s contributions toward empowering Punjab’s young talent.
MRSAFPI director Major General Ajay H Chauhan announced that in December 2024, nine cadets from the 7th and 8th courses of MRSAFPI, currently training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) and Air Force Academy (AFA), will soon be commissioned as gazetted officers in the Indian Army and Indian Air Force (IAF). He further informed that the admission process for the 15th course at MRSAFPI will begin soon, with entrance examination dates to be announced shortly.
With the support of dedicated faculty and leadership, MRSAFPI continues to uphold its mission of nurturing the next generation of armed forces officers, instilling a sense of discipline, patriotism, and excellence in its cadets. The institute’s remarkable record this year sets a new benchmark in its storied legacy of service to the nation.
