Horticulture and Food Processing Minister Narayan Singh Kushwaha said that Madhya Pradesh is among the leading states of the country in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Micro Food Enterprises Upgradation Scheme (PMFME). Given this achievement of the state, the Central government has extended the period of the Pradhan Mantri Micro Food Enterprises Upgradation Scheme in Madhya Pradesh by one year.
Minister Kushwaha has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Food Processing Minister Chirag Paswan on this decision of the Central government.
Principal Secretary Horticulture Anupam Rajan said that because of the excellent performance of Madhya Pradesh in the implementation of the Prime Minister Micro Food Enterprises Upgradation Scheme, the Union Food Processing Ministry has extended the implementation period of the scheme in Madhya Pradesh till March 31, 2026. Under this scheme, banks have approved the establishment of 420 industrial units in Madhya Pradesh, which is a record.
Principal Secretary Rajan informed that the PMFME scheme was implemented in Madhya Pradesh for 5 years from 2020-21 to 2024-25. Through the PMFME scheme, a grant of 35 percent or a maximum of Rs 10 lakh is given to private and group companies for setting up food processing industry units. The youth in the state have been inspired by this to establish their industrial units in the field of agriculture/horticulture.
Rajan said that for setting up food processing units in the state, the proposals are examined through a committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, and only after that the proposals are sent to the Central Inter-ministerial Empowered Committee. Madhya Pradesh has become the leading state in the country by getting approval for 420 cases out of 917 cases received under the scheme.
