A host of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and state unit chief Vishnudutt Sharma, participated on Saturday in a state-level workshop on the organisational festival at the party's state headquarters in the city.
Addressing the workshop, top BJP functionaries—state in-charge Mahendra Singh, national co-election officer Naresh Bansal, state organisational general secretary Hitanand Sharma, and state election officer Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar—shared insights and guided party workers on the ongoing active membership campaign and organisational elections.
In his address, Singh congratulated the Chief Minister and party state unit chief for setting a record for enrolments during the recently concluded membership drive.
He also praised the efforts of the ten district presidents who topped the membership campaign.Speaking to the media on the sidelines after the workshop, Chief Minister Yadav said that his government is striving for the continuous development of the state in coordination with the party organisation. He expressed confidence that the party's state unit will again emerge as a frontrunner during the ongoing active membership campaign.
Yadav said that party workers should inform people in their areas about the government's efforts for development and progress. The Chief Minister claimed that the BJP organisation in the state achieved the historic membership campaign target through healthy competition, while the rapid decline of the Congress, both nationally and in the state, is due to its leadership. He said that the party has decided that only those workers who create 100 primary members will be granted active membership.
Several generations have passed in the BJP since the late Sundarlal Patwa and the late Kailash Joshi, while Congress still has leaders like Digvijay Singh and Kamal Nath from that era, which is leading to Congress's decline.State unit chief Sharma attributed the success of the emergence of the BJP as the largest political party in the world to the dedication of party workers.
"Thanks to the dedication of our workers, the BJP has once again become the world's largest political party," he said. While expressing satisfaction with the strategic planning and efforts of booth workers, party leadership, and membership teams, the state BJP has surpassed 160,000 members."We aimed for 200 members at each booth, a target we have exceeded, and in the remaining days, we expect to achieve a goal of approximately 16.8 million members, which is 70 per cent of the 22.4 million votes we received in the recent Lok Sabha elections."
Sharma told the audience that the party has recorded the registration of over 100 million members nationally, and the national organisational general secretary congratulated party workers, stating that we have once again overtaken the Communist Party of China to become the largest political party in the world.
He said that the performance of enthusiastic party workers during the membership campaign had been noticed even in areas that are considered challenging by the party."We have been successful in creating a membership history in constituencies like Bhopal South, Bhopal North, and Chhindwara," he said.
The workshop was also addressed by the state coordinator of the membership campaign, MLA Bhagwandas Sabnani, and MP Banshilal Gurjar, as well as parliamentary board member Satyanarayan Jatiya.Union Ministers Durgadas Uike, Savitri Thakur, national minister Omprakash Dhurve, national president of the Scheduled Caste Front Lalsingh Arya, and MP Faggan Singh Kulaste were also present on the dais.
The workshop was conducted by state co-election officer and MLA Archana Chitnis, and state vice-president and co-election officer Jeetu Jirati proposed the vote of thanks.
