MECON and SAIL to jointly organize ICON-2024

MECON Limited along with SAIL , under the aegis of Ministry of Steel, Government of India is going to organize an International Conference on Steel (ICONS-2024): Focus on Capital goods (ICONS24) on May 30 and May 31 at Management Training Institute, Conference Hall in the State Capital

The conference will be inaugurated by Secretary, Ministry of Steel (MoS), Government of India and Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India. Other dignitaries for the function shall be Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor, MoS, Joint Secretary, MoS, CMD, MECON, Chairman SAIL, CMD, MOIL and CMD, NMDC.

Manufacturers, Iron & Steel producers, representatives of academia, Equipment suppliers, engineering and consultancy companies, participants from prestigious academic institutions and Heads of various Secondary Steel Sector Companies shall also be present during the two day conference.

The Conference boasts of an unparalleled lineup of keynote speakers, expert panels and interactive sessions. Participants in the conference shall have insightful discussions on the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the global steel market landscape. The Conference is planned to be a dynamic forum facilitating critical dialogue, knowledge exchange, and strategic collaborations within the steel sector. The aim of the conference is to find way forward to reduce import content of about 25 billion US dollars with prevailing practices. Additionally, it also aims to find ways to reduce annual spare procurement of around 500 Million US Dollars.

Steel is crucial for the development of any modern economy and is considered to be the backbone of human civilization. Hence, tremendous onus lies on the steel producing fraternity in allowing preferences of a strong and large Capital Goods industry.  On the other hand, capital goods Industry is of strategic importance for country’s economy as it contributes to the economy both by supporting national security programs and generating large scale of employment. In order to achieve the desired milestone and emphasize on technology absorption, development, creation, a healthy and regular interaction among all the contributing agencies and stakeholders is indispensible.

In addition to thought-provoking sessions, attendees will have ample opportunities for networking, forging partnerships, and showcasing innovative solutions. The International Conference on Steel 2024 promises to be a transformative experience for all participants, driving collaboration and fostering collective action towards a more resilient and sustainable steel sector.
