As Jharkhand gears up for its final phase of polling on Wednesday, BJP state president Babulal Marandi has issued a powerful appeal to the youth, urging them to exercise their right to vote responsibly. Marandi reminded young voters of the false promises made by corrupt leaders, saying, “Remember those who played with your dreams. This time, the election is about your future, and the decision lies in your hands.”
Marandi making an appeal said that Jharkhand has got another chance to choose its government and shape the future of the state. This opportunity is not only to form a new government but also to end corruption, youth frustration and inequality and choose an accountable and responsible government.
During the election campaign of the last two months, “I have realized that this election will not just decide who will sit in power. This election will decide the direction of Jharkhand's future. The way the state's resources have been looted and the tribal culture has been attacked in the last five years, has never happened before. This election will decide whether Jharkhand will protect its water, forest, land, bread, soil and daughter or hand them over to external intruders and corrupt system.”
He said that during the election campaign, I communicated with every section of the state - mothers, sisters, youth and elders. We put our policies and intentions in front of the public. Your immense public support has given me courage. I am confident that we will live up to the blessings you will give to the Bharatiya Janata Party on the 23rd.
But, I want to take a promise from you. This promise is not political, but to save the identity, respect and resources of Jharkhand. Our respected leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji used to say, "Governments will come and go, parties will be formed and destroyed, but this country should remain". In the same spirit, I urge you that when you exercise your franchise, keep in mind that your elected representative should not compromise with your resources, respect and future.
I request the youth that in the last five years, you have seen how the people in power have taken away your rights and served only their own interests. When you go to cast your vote, remember how you had to face repression when you demanded your rights. This election is an opportunity to give a message—we will fight for our rights and protect them.
My appeal to the mothers and sisters is that the way the present government has played with your honour and security, the way it has forced you to live in the shadow of fear, is it tolerable?
I promise you that the Bharatiya Janata Party government will never compromise on your honour and rights, and will create a safe, crime-free environment for you.
My humble appeal to every citizen of Jharkhand is that on this holy festival of democracy, exercise your biggest right – the right to vote. Overthrow this government which has betrayed your dreams and aspirations. Give the Bharatiya Janata Party an opportunity to once again take Jharkhand on the path of development, progress and prosperity. This one decision of yours can shape the future of Jharkhand.
