The Delhi Police on Monday arrested a 22 year old man for allegedly stabbing a 20-year-old man to death in the Harsh Vihar area of northeast Delhi.
According to the police on Monday, the deceased, who has been identified as Ankur, a resident of Pratap Nagar, was declared brought dead, while his 14 year old brother sustained injuries after they were allegedly attacked and stabbed by three bike-borne men for advising them to drive carefully.
They were returning from a Dussehra fair along on Saturday when the incident took place. His brother is studying in class 9.
On Saboli road, Ankur and Himanshu reportedly advised a biker carrying two pillion passengers to drive safely after the bike-borne men were driving recklessly on the narrow streets.
“On Saturday, an information was received from GTB hospital, stating that one person was brought dead in hospital due to stab injury. The police found that one Ankur s/o Krishan Pal age 20 years and his brother were brought to hospital due to stab injuries. Ankur was declared brought dead,” a senior police official said.
The statement of the brother was written. “He stated that they had altercation with three boys riding on black coloured Splendour bike while they were crossing the road. There was minor touching with bike. During the course of altercation all three boys attacked them with knives several time and ran away from the spot,” he added.
During the course of investigation accused was identified as Vikas with the help of CCTV footage. Himanshu, who sustained knife wounds on his neck and thigh, managed to rush Ankur to a nearby hospital in an e-rickshaw where doctors declared him dead.
"The deceased sustained multiple stab wounds on his chest, stomach, and thigh," the officer said, adding that Ankur's body has been handed over to his family members after post-mortem.
A purported CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on social media showing three men attacking the two brothers in full public view. The footage also shows a man from the public trying to catch hold of one of the attackers even as they fled.
