The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress welcomed the Lieutenant Govenror Vinai Kumar Saxena’s order to probe the complaints of data collection from women under the pretense of the Mahila Samman Yojana and its potential transfer to private companies.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Sunday assured that the BJP would fully cooperate with the investigation if needed.
Responding to Arvind Kejriwal’s statements, Sachdeva said Kejriwal has been feeding lies to the people of Delhi for the past ten years and has failed to fulfill any of his promises. He questioned whether a cabinet proposal to grant ?2100 monthly under the Chief Minister Mahila Samman Yojana had ever been passed. He further accused Kejriwal of using women’s issues only for electoral gains and called on him to learn from BJP-led states about quietly and effectively implementing programs to support women. Sachdeva criticized Kejriwal, pointing out his unfulfilled promise of ?1000 monthly for women in Punjab before the government was formed
If any cyber crime takes place against Delhi women, the sole responsibility, Sachdeva said, would fall on Kejriwal for collecting their private data under the Mahila Samman Yojana and passing on to private parties.
Delhi Congress has slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for snooping of senior leader and party’s candidate from New Delhi assembly seat, Sandeep Dikshit and large sums of cash being brought into the city from Punjab ahead of the next year's Assembly election.
Lambasting the Kejriwal and AAP government, Delhi Congress president Devendra Yadav said Kejriwal was standing on a shaky ground in his sitting seat, and face an impending defeat, and therefore he was misusing Punjab police personnel to intimidate his powerful Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit.
Yadav said that it was highly condemnable that Kejriwal was adopting such demeaning tactics “to curb the democratic process and free and fair election” after realizing that he was facing certain defeat.
He said that the Lt. Governor has taken cognisance of Dikshit’s complaint as the charges levelled by Dikshit are “grave” and it is imperative that prospective candidates for the Delhi Assembly elections are “not intimidated and discouraged” from
participating in the democratic process.
