JBKSS to contest on 55 seats in Assembly polls

Wednesday, 19 June 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Before the assembly elections, Jharkhand Bhasha Khatiyani Sangharsh Samiti (JBKSS) Chief Convenor Jairam Mahto made a big announcement on Tuesday. Addressing a press meet Jairam has announced that his party will contest the assembly elections on 55 seats in Jharkhand alone.

Jairam also said that his party will not contest the elections with any alliance. He said that JBKSS had fielded candidates on a total of eight seats in the Lok Sabha elections.” There are 46 assembly constituencies under these 8 Lok Sabha seats. Obviously, we will contest elections on all these 46 assembly seats. Apart from this, we will also contest elections from the assembly coming under Jamshedpur, Khunti and Godda Lok Sabha seats. He said that there is a preparation to contest elections on a total of 55 seats. Within 15 to 25 days the symbol will also be allotted to the party. Along with this, the party will also be registered,” he added.

In response to a question, Jairam Mahto said that no particular party is a challenge for JBKSS. “Because I brought votes from all those places where there were parties other than AJSU. He got 1,53,000 votes from Congress's traditional seat Bermo. He got 60,000 votes from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's seat Tundi and 90,000 votes from Dumri. We do not have a fight with any one party. Our fight is of ideology. At present, the people are getting disconnected from the politics these people are doing. Yes, no doubt, it will take time. But in the coming days, we will be in a better position in Jharkhand politics. For us, issues matter, not the party,” he added.

Jairam Mahto said that he will fight the assembly elections on the issues of the State. “The most burning issue of Jharkhand right now is the disappointment of the students. The students of the State are frustrated, this will be an important issue for us in the assembly elections. If we come to power, we will first bring transparency in the examinations. Free and fair exams will be conducted. If there is any irregularity in it, then no matter which high official it is, they should get severe punishment, we will also agitate for this. Ranchi Lok Sabha candidate Devendra Nath Mahato was also present on this occasion,” he added.

Court refuses bail to Jairam

JBKSS president and Giridih Lok Sabha candidate Jayram Mahato has been refused anticipatory bail by the Ranchi Civil Court. Earlier on June 10, after the completion of the hearing by the Government and the defense, the court of Additional Judicial Commissioner (AJC 15) had reserved its decision. On which the court pronounced its verdict during the hearing today. Ranchi Police had taken a warrant against Jairam Mahato in case number 48 registered in the year 2022 at Nagdi police station in Ranchi. After receiving the warrant, Ranchi Police also raided Giridih to arrest Jairam Mahato. But he did not come under police custody.
