International Yoga Day celebrated with fervour in City

International Yoga Day observed on June 21 was celebrated with great fervour in the State capital. The theme for the 10th International Yoga Day was ‘Yoga for Self and Society’ and who’s who of Ranchi participated at various programmes organised across the City.

Minister of State for Defence and Ranchi MP, Sanjay Seth participated in the International Yoga Day programme organised by the Indian Coast Guard at Dahanushkodi in Tamil Nadu. Seth said that yoga is essential for inner peace and spiritual growth. “Yoga nourishes the mind, body and spirit and creates a sense of inner peace, self- awareness and spiritual growth. Therefore everyone must adopt yoga in their lives to lead a healthy life,” said Seth.

To mark the Day, a special was organised by the Jharkhand government at Birsa Munda Fun Park, Ranchi. Organised by the Directorate of AYUSH, Health Minister Banna Gupta attended the programme as the chief guest while former minister and Ranchi MLA CP Singh and Health Department Principal Secretary AK Singh were the chief guests for the occasion.

“After Covid, the body’s immunity has reduced and that deficiency can be overcome by yoga. Today the whole world is benefitting from yoga. The issue is not that where the Prime Minister is doing yoga, the need of the hour is that more and more people do yoga,” said Gupta

Former minister and BJP MLA CP Singh while wishing everyone on International Yoga Day said that he has been practicing yoga for 25 years.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, a ‘Yogabhyas Camp’ (yoga practice) camp was organised in the premises of Jharkhand High Court. Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Justice Rongon Mukhopadhyay, Justice Ananda Sen, Justice Dr Shivanand Pathak, Justice Rajesh Sankar, Justice Anil Kumar Choudhary, Justice Deepak Roshan, Justice Navneet Kumar, Justice Pradeep Kumar Srivastava, Justice Arun Kumar Rai, Registrar General Mohammad Shakir were present on the occasion along with members of the Registry Office and staff of Jharkhand High Court.

On the occasion Sanyasi Swami Muktrathmade, all judges, officers and staff members present practiced yoga and highlighted about the importance of yoga. Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, the senior most Judge of Jharkhand High Court said that all of us should make yoga a part of our regular routine as well as lifestyle. “We remain physically and mentally healthy through yoga. It also relieves stress and purifies our thoughts.” T-shirt, batch, cap and yoga book received from the Directorate of AYUSH were also distributed.

International Yoga Day was celebrated in the Multipurpose Hall, at Judge Colony, under the guidance of Justice-cum-Executive Chairman, JHALSA, Sujit Narayan Prasad of Jharkhand High Court and Judicial Commissioner-cum-Chairman DLSA, Ranchi, Diwakar Pandey. On this occasion, Judicial Commissioner, Ranchi, Family Court and all Additional Justice Commissioners and Judicial Magistrates of Civil Court, Ranchi and employees of Civil Court, Ranchi participated in the yoga practice program.

On the occasion, instructors of Satyanand Yoga Mission were present as yoga instructors. The instructors made everyone present practice yoga and said that doing yoga is beneficial, many diseases can be driven away by yoga and immunity can also be increased.

A yoga programme was also organised at the Railway Court Ranchi under the chairmanship of Judicial Magistrate Railway Vijay Kumar Yadav where employees of Railway Court participated in the programme and practiced yoga.

On the occasion of International Yoga Day, PLV of District Legal Services Authority, Ranchi organised yoga practice programs in the Legal Aid Center and Legal Literacy Club of their respective blocks and made the students and people do yoga and told them about the benefits of yoga. In the said program, yoga practice programmes were organised in all the Legal Aid Centers including Mandar, Kanke, Rinpas, C.I.P. Ramakrishna Mission, Tamar, Bedon and Kanke. The 10th International Yoga Day 2024 was celebrated in University Law College Vinoba Bhave University under the ageis  of Principal Incharge Rashmi Pradhan. Addressing the gathering, Pradhan said that the day aims to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga right from physical, mental and spiritual. “The theme ‘Yoga for Self and Society’ emphasises on the double benefits of yoga practice, enhancing personal well- being and improving society,” said Pradhan. The chief guest for the occasion Aacharya Amit Ranjan said that yoga reflects the union of mind and body, thoughts and action, restraint and fulfillment and harmony between humans and nature.

As the year marks the 10th International Yoga Day with the theme ‘Yoga for Self and Society’ the members of Doctor’s Wives Association assembled at IMA Hall. Chairperson Vinita Sharan and President Shreela Choudhary welcomed the yoga instructor Nandu Dulal Dutta while Treasurer Monideepa Dasgupta presented the vote of thanks. The participants included Rinku Banerjee, Bindu Prasad, Rekha Mishra, Meera Gupta, Dr Ankita Verma and others.

Mecon celebrated International Yoga Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. Yoga session was organised at Mecon Community Hall for emplyees and their families under the expert guidance of trained yoga practitioner. The session was attended by SK Verma CMD Mecon, Mukesh Kumar Director (fFinance) and other officials. The event concluded with a brief meditation session leaving the participants feeling rejuvenated and energised.

SAIL Ranchi Units observed the International Yoga Day 2024 with all exuberance and gaiety. Ved Prakash, ED (SDTD), SK KAR, ED (RDCIS) performed Yoga along with a large number of officers, staff and families in an event organized at Samudayik Bhawan, SAIL Satellite Township, Ranchi. The Art of Living Chapter of Ranchi led by Youth Yoga Leader Manas Pulse along with Gagan, Shreya and Juhi led the SAIL employees with the Common Yoga Protocol from Ministry of AYUSH which all participants performed gracefully. Chief General Managers Shashi Vashisht, SJ Jachuck, SK Das and Sanjay Dhar were also present. The program was coordinated by Ujjwal Bhaskar, Chief of Communications.

The 10th International Yoga Day was celebrated with lot of enthusiasm at NTPC Coal Mining headquarters, Ranchi on Friday with the theme ‘Yoga for Self and Society’. The event was graced by Chief Guest, Director (Fuel),NTPC Limited and Chairman ,NTPC Mining Limited (NML), Sivam Srivastava, Regional Executive Director (Coal Mining ) and CEO, Animesh Jain as Guest of Honour. Addressing the participants, Srivastava said “Yoga has now got worldwide recognition by Prime Minister Modi and has been treated as preventive medicine to avoid lifestyle diseases with regular practice”. He added “Yoga is beneficial and helps us to keep us fit, it is universally accepted and practiced by all worldwide, one has to practice yoga to get the benefits”. On the occasion CGM, C and M, Naveen Jain, HR, Heads, Rajnish Rastogi of the department, Senior officials and employees in large numbers were present to celebrate the yoga day.

Jharkhand Olympic Association celebrated International Yoga Day at the Birsa Munda Stadium where Wushu Athletes demonstrated yoga. Secretary- General of the Olympic Association Dr Madhukant Pathak stated that this year’s theme is ‘Yoga for Self and Society’ and said that yoga helps in developing self- confidence and discipline among athletes which aids them in becoming better citizens in the future. SK Pandey, KK Singh Shivendra Dubey and others along with a large number of athletes were present on the occasion.

In a vibrant celebration of International Yoga Day, IIM Ranchi brought its students together to emphasise the importance of health, wellness, and harmony through the practice of yoga. The institute’s students, faculty, and staff gathered to participate in various yoga sessions demonstrating a unified commitment to a healthier lifestyle and mental well-being. The celebration focused on the physical aspects of yoga and delved into its philosophical roots, emphasising on the importance of mindfulness and balance in everyday life.
