Incessant heavy rainfall increases water level in Kshipra river in Ujjain

Heavy rainfall caused an increase in the water level of the Kshipra river in Ujjain, small temples on the banks of the ghat got submerged in no time. Three cars parked in the parking lot were washed away. Locals present there pulled out the cars.

On Sunday, heavy rains occurred in many districts including Shajapur and Sagar. Meanwhile, the water level of Kolans river, which fills the big pond in Bhopal, rose by one foot. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in 13 districts in the next few hours.

 

There are also chances of lightning and thunder in the entire state. So far, an average of 25% (9.3 inches) of rain has occurred in Madhya Pradesh. This is 5% less than the average rainfall. That is, 9.8 inches of water should have fallen by now.

Heavy rains are not occurring in most parts of western Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal, no major monsoon system is active right now. The monsoon trough line that brings rain has also shifted upwards towards UP.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in many districts in the next few hours. These include Ujjain, Dholavad of Ratlam, Mandsaur, Agar-Malwa, Rajgarh, Dewas, Indore, Khargone, Burhanpur, Omkareshwar of Khandwa, Harda, Raisen, Balaghat districts.

Weather will also remain changed in Neemuch, Mandu of Dhar, Bawangaja of Barwani, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Mandla, Sagar, Damoh, Katni, Amarkantak of Anuppur, Shahdol, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Pachmarhi of Narmadapuram, Sehore, Udaygiri of Vidisha, Shajapur, Jhabua, Ashoknagar, Sanchi, Bhimbetka, Bhopal, Umaria, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Dindori, Morena, Sheopur, Guna, Panna.

Three cars parked in the parking lot were washed away due to the rising water level in Shipra. Due to the sudden rise in the water level in the Shipra river, a passenger's car was washed away from the parking lot near a small culvert. People present there took the cars out.

On Sunday at around 12:30 in the afternoon, the water level in the Shipra river suddenly started rising rapidly and within no time, water entered the small temples on the banks of the ghat. The temples also started getting submerged. The Home Guard and SDERF jawans present at the ghat made an announcement instructing the people bathing at the river ghat to go out immediately.

Bhopal has received 12.85 inches of rain so far, which is 34% of the quota. Due to the rain, the Kolans river is flowing 1 feet above the water level for the first time in the season. The level of the Bada Talab is also increasing due to this. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of light to heavy rains for the next 4 days.

Bhopal is also included in the top-5 districts of MP with the highest rainfall. About 13 inches of rain has fallen here so far. Bhopal is definitely ahead in overall rainfall, but is far behind the average rainfall of July. The average rainfall of the month of July is 367.7 mm i.e. 14.4 inches. From 1 to 14 July, 95 mm i.e. 4.8 inches of water has fallen in Bhopal. Now 9.6 inches more water is needed to complete the quota.
