Poaching of a black buck was reported at Barkheda Salam; the body having a bullet shot was found in a field on Tuesday morning, it was hunted 15 to 20 hours ago.

The hunting was done in the night, but the hunters could not take the body away. The postmortem report will be received in three days.

The forest department team brought the body to the veterinary hospital located at Arera Hills in Bhopal in the afternoon where Dr Sangeeta Dhamija conducted the postmortem. After this, the forest department cremated the body.

Dr Dhamija said that the forest department team brought the body of the black buck from Barkheda Salam. A panel of two doctors has conducted the postmortem. The detailed report will be given to the forest department. The body is 15 to 20 hours old, it was an adult.

The forest department team reached the animal hospital with the dead body of the black deer.

The black deer had a deep wound near its neck. Apart from this, there are no injury marks anywhere on the body which suggests that it was shot for hunting.

On the other hand, the forest department officials are seen avoiding the question of hunting of the black deer.

SDO Dheeraj Singh Chauhan said that the black deer has died. The team went to the hospital with the dead body. I will tell you after getting the report.

On the other hand, Dr. Dhamija, who conducted the post-mortem, was also seen avoiding the question of being shot. She said that the post-mortem report will be given directly to the forest department in 2 to 3 days.

About 5 months ago, the dead body of a pregnant black deer was found near the forest department's rest house in Bishankhedi, Bhopal. The villagers said that the deer was hunted by dogs. There is a water area around the place where the carcass of the black deer was found. Due to this, Rajasthani sheep herders also stayed there with their sheep.

It is feared that the sheep herders also have dogs with them, which are more violent than urban dogs. They can also attack the deer. At the same time, hunting by hunters also came to the fore.

According to the Forest Department's poaching case report, about 115 wild animals have been hunted in different places of the state in MP from January 1, 2024 till now. The hunters have hunted the most 24 leopards, 20 chital, 16 nilgai and 14 wild boars. Apart from this, 3 black deer have also been hunted. These black deer have been hunted in Sehore, Raisen and Sagar districts.

Male leopard cub 'Veer' died on Monday in Van Vihar, Bhopal.

On 6 February 2023, he was rescued from Chhindwara Forest Division. He was unable to walk due to being very weak. The back part of his body was not working.

The cub was treated by wildlife doctor Van Vihar Dr. Atul Gupta after consulting experts, but he could not be saved. The leopard's body was cremated on Tuesday. At the same time, samples have been sent to the School of Wildlife Forensic Health Jabalpur and DI Lab Bhopal for testing.
