Hundreds of Delhi BJP workers were arrested on Sunday for protesting outside Rajghat against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for visiting Mahatma Gandhi's memorial before surrendering to Tihar jail after his interim bail granted by the Supreme Court in the excise policy-linked money laundering case ended on June 1.

About 50 women workers were taken to I.P. Estate Police Station, while Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, along with 100 workers, were taken to Kamla Market Police Station from where they were let off with warning after an hour.

Around 100 BJP workers, including Sachdeva, have been detained at the police station, BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said.

As a part of a flash protest, Sachdeva along with hundreds of workers blocked the passage of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s cavalcade by sitting on Rajghat traffic intersection on Ring Road. Another group of over 50 women workers raised slogans at Rajghat's VIP exit gate towards Delhi Secretariat side forcing the cavalcade to go towards Rajghat intersection where it was stopped and shown black flags by BJP workers.

Sachdeva, while talking to media, said, “It is shocking to see Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, a man arrested for liquor scam shamelessly visiting the pious Samadhi (memorial) of Mahatma Gandhi who all his life worked for prohibition.”Stating that the AAP chief tried to play victim car in front of the people of Delhi, he claimed, “Kejriwal by going to Rajghat & Hanuman Mandir before surrendering at Tihar Jail tried to play his old victim card but people of Delhi now well know that Gandhian ideology has no place in Kejriwal's lifestyle.”

“Infact Kejriwal has removed Mahatma Gandhi's photos from his office, residence and media conference backdrops,” he claimed, adding that for 20 days Kejriwal was out on bail but did nothing to solve the water and power crisis being faced by Delhiites.
