Health Dept meeting stresses full occupancy in Malnutrition Centers

Tuesday, 16 July 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

A review meeting of the Health and Social Welfare Department was held at Samahranalaya Auditorium, Jamshedpur, under the chairmanship of Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar, as per the instructions of District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal. The meeting focused on the progress of various departmental schemes, including health and nutrition schemes for pregnant women, malnutrition treatment centers, the Chief Minister's Health Support Scheme, the Savitri Bai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Scheme, the PM Matru Vandana Scheme, and the Kanyadan Scheme.

The Deputy Development Commissioner emphasized that the health and social welfare schemes of the state government aim to improve the health, nutrition, and standard of living of common citizens. He stressed the need to extend health services to remote rural areas and equip health sub-centers to prevent the need for people to travel to the city for minor health issues, thereby avoiding financial burdens. Instructions were given to purchase infantometers in all hospitals to measure the weight of babies. The review covered 100% registration of pregnant women, HIV screening, regular iron injections, TB, VHSND programs, dengue prevention, and sickle cell anemia screening. Necessary instructions were provided, and a directive was issued to identify areas with low institutional delivery rates and to increase such deliveries. Pregnant women were instructed to undergo 100% ANC, and discussions were held with all in-charge medical officers to improve arrangements in community health centers.

In the review of social welfare departmental schemes, there was expressed displeasure over the lack of expected progress in the Savitri Bai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana, Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana, and PM Matru Vandana Yojana. There are currently 34 vacant posts for Anganwadi workers and 36 for assistants, with instructions to appoint at least 40 posts through the Gram Sabha in the next 15 days. Additionally, 100% entry in the nutrition tracker app for monitoring children aged 0-6 years and pregnant mothers was mandated. For the review of the treatment of children in malnutrition treatment centers, it was emphasized to ensure proper treatment for 100% of malnourished children and ensure that no beds remain vacant in these centers. Instructions were given to all MOICs, CDPOs, women supervisors, and BPMs to ensure full occupancy.

The meeting was attended by Civil Surgeon Dr. Jujhar Majhi, DRCHO Dr. Ranjit Panda, District Social Welfare Officer Sandhya Rani, all CDPOs, Women Supervisors, BPM-Health, and other officials.
