In line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable in Uttar Pradesh, the state government is offering free ultrasounds to pregnant women at private ultrasound centres across the state.
To date, over six lakh women have benefited from this initiative.
The government is ensuring that pregnant women can access this service at empanelled private centres in any district, eliminating the need for travel.
Emphasising the chief minister’s commitment to protect the health of mothers and children, National Health Mission (NHM) Director Dr Pinky Jowal said that the government was providing both nutritious food and quality medical care.
Since February 2023, the government has been distributing e-Rupee vouchers for free ultrasounds under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan. A network of 1,861 private ultrasound centres across 75 districts has been empanelled to provide this service. To date, over 1.45 million e-Rupee vouchers have been issued, and 6,80,000 women have already used them.
The e-Rupee vouchers are valid for one month, after which they expire, but can be reissued if not used within the time frame. Vouchers are distributed on the 1st, 9th, 16th and 24th of each month at district women’s hospitals, joint hospitals, community health centres and primary health centres.
Following Chief Minister Yogi’s directive, ASHA workers are conducting door-to-door campaigns to ensure more women are aware of this valuable facility.
