The students of GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) course of 2019-2022 of Madhya Pradesh staged a sit-in protest outside the DHS office in Bhopal on Tuesday. These students were selected in 2019 in government nursing institutes run under the Public Health and Family Welfare Department.

Generally, after doing a three-year diploma, students get posting within 6 months, but the posting of these students has been stopped for the last 18 months without any reason.

Nursing students have been protesting for the last two days regarding this. They said that it has never happened that the students had to wait so long for their posting.

They said that all the students of our senior batch have been posted.

The protesting student Ritu Thakur said that she had cleared the entrance after preparing for two years. Thereafter, she was selected in the government nursing institute run under the Public Health and Family Welfare Department.

After the completion of the course, we get posted within 6 months, but I have been sitting at home for the last one and a half years.

At the same time, other students said that their final paper was held in February 2023. The result of which should have come in 3 months. But without any valid reason, their result was withheld for 11 months. The students filed a petition in the High Court to stop the result. After the orders of the court, the institute declared the result, after which they got their mark sheet printed. Now these students are constantly struggling for their jobs and are getting pushed around the officials.

The students said that they have made thousands of rounds of DHS (District Health Society) Bhopal, but no responsible officer is there to listen to their problem.

For one and a half years, these students have become upset sitting at home. These students have now written a letter to the President and sought permission for euthanasia. They said that they do not understand whom they should go to now for their job and whom they should tell their mistake.
