On Saturday, a review meeting regarding aspirational districts and blocks was held by Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Jamua at the auditorium of the Collectorate in Garhwa.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed six key indicators among the 49 primary indicators set by NITI Aayog. These included timely antenatal care and supplementary nutrition for pregnant women, full vaccination for all children, regular health checks for diabetes and hypertension for individuals, distribution of soil health cards, provision of revolving funds to self-help groups, and ensuring basic facilities in schools.
While reviewing these indicators, particularly in the fields of health, education, and agriculture, the Deputy Commissioner instructed them to focus on these areas. He emphasised the importance of ANC registration for pregnant women, full immunisation for all children, institutional deliveries, sex ratio, malnutrition, operation of MTC centres, and other related issues, urging prioritised action in these domains. In the aspirational blocks, he also highlighted the need to focus on low-performing indicators regarding ANC registration, institutional deliveries, low birth-weight babies, diabetes and hypertension, vaccinations, nutrition, among other topics.
The Civil Surgeon, Dr Ashok Kumar, representing the health department, was also present. He reiterated the need to focus on ANC registration for pregnant women, full vaccinations for children, institutional deliveries, sex ratios, malnutrition, and the functioning of MTC centres as priority areas.
The Block Education Extension Officer from the education department informed that essential facilities like drinking water, electrification, and toilets have been ensured in schools along with smooth teaching and learning processes. Instructions were also given to ensure student attendance and distribution of textbooks and bicycles among children, along with working on other important indicators.
Present at the meeting were Additional Development Commissioner Pashupatinath Mishra, Civil Surgeon Dr Ashok Kumar, District Agriculture Officer Shiv Shankar Prasad, Block Development Officer Manjhiyaon, BEEO Garhwa Rambha Chaubey, Health Department DPM Sujit Kumar Munda, officials from NITI Aayog and Piramal Foundation, among others.
