First FIR under BNS registered in Bhopal, as a replacement of IPC

The first FIR in MP under the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita- 2023 (BNS) was registered in Bhopal. Praful Chauhan (40), a resident of Israni Market, lodged a complaint against Raja alias Harbhajan at Hanumanganj police station at 12:05 pm on Sunday night. Police have registered a case under section 296. In the IPC, this case would have been registered under section 294.

Chauhan told the police that Raja alias Harbhajan abused him due to old enmity. The accused has not been arrested in this case yet. Police Commissioner Harinarayan Chari Mishra said that 10 FIRs have been registered in Bhopal till 2 pm under the new law. These cases have been registered in Jahangirabad, Talaiya, Hanumanganj and Crime Branch police stations.

ADG Intelligence Jaideep Prasad said that new laws are being implemented by organizing programs at all police station areas and district headquarters level in the state. The district's Superintendent of Police, public representatives and intellectuals of the district are being invited to the program. Retired police officers, women, elderly and school-college students are being invited. During the program, all the attendees are being made aware about the new laws.

ADG Jaideep Prasad said that the policemen have been informed about how to enter the software, how to collect evidence, all these points. The state police have trained more than 31 thousand investigators. Along with this, changes related to the new laws have also been made in CCTNS, which will come into effect from 12 midnight on June 30.
