The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Punjab Police, in joint operation with central agencies and Maharashtra Police, has solved the sensational Ferozepur Triple Murder case with the arrest of six shooters from Aurangabad, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav said on Saturday.
Those arrested have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy Baba of Chohla Sahib in Tarn Taran; Prince of village Kunde in Ferozepur; Ravinder Singh alias Ravi alias Sukhu, Sukhchain Singh, Akshay alias Bagicha and Rajbeer Singh alias Daler Singh, all residents of Basti Bagh Wali in Ferozepur. All the arrested accused have criminal history with cases pertaining to murder, attempt to murder, robbery, NDPS Act, Arms Act etc registered against them. While, accused Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy Baba has also been declared proclaimed offender in two cases.
Three persons, including a young girl, were shot dead by six assailants on two motorcycles in broad daylight near Gurudwara in Ferozepur on Tuesday.
DGP Yadav said that acting on human-intel inputs and connecting the dots, AGTF Punjab headed by ADGP Promod Ban, Police teams under the supervision of AIG Gurmeet Singh Chauhan and AIG Sandeep Goel launched a special operation spread over states of Punjab, UT Chandigarh, Delhi and Maharashtra, have arrested six accused persons from Hruday Samrat Balasaheb Thakre Express Highway. The operation was led by DSP Bikramjit Singh Brar and DSP Rajan Parminder Singh was supported by the QRT Aurangabad Police team.
He said that preliminary investigation has revealed all the arrested six shooters are close associates of mastermind Ashish Chopra, who is a fugitive and hiding abroad on a fake passport. The probe revealed that the incident is the fallout of intergang rivalry between two groups, he added. The DGP said more arrests are expected soon, he added.
