Fate of 528 candidates to be decided on Nov 20

The noise of the election campaign for the second and final phase of the assembly elections stopped at 5 pm on Monday. Voting is to be held on 38 seats on November 20. A total of 528 candidates are trying their luck in the second phase. There are 472 male and 55 female candidates in this. One gender candidate is also in the electoral arena.

There are 73 candidates from national parties, of which 60 are men and 13 are women. 28 candidates of recognized state-level Jharkhand parties are also in the electoral fray. This includes 23 male and five female candidates. The number of independent candidates is 257.

Voting will be held at 14,218 booths for the 30 assembly seats of the second phase. The number of general booths in this is 7,390 and the number of booths in Naxal-affected areas is 900. Voting will be held at 31 booths from 7 am to 4 pm. For peaceful polling, 585 companies of paramilitary forces and 60 companies of JAP have been deployed. About 30 thousand district forces and home guard jawans have been deployed.

During the entire election campaign, CM Hemant Soren and Kalpana Soren were at the forefront in holding meetings. Hemant Soren held 92 meetings. While Kalpana Soren held 98 meetings. After this, BJP's firebrand leader Himanta Biswa Sarma held 57 meetings and Shivraj Singh Chauhan held 51 meetings. Prime Minister Modi held six meetings, Rahul Gandhi held six meetings, Amit Shah held six meetings, JP Nadda held eight meetings, Yogi Adityanath held eight meetings, Tejashwi Yadav held 21 meetings, RJD supremo Lalu Yadav held one meeting, Mallikarjun Kharge held six meetings and Sachin Pilot held one meeting.

The elections will be held on November 20 in Rajmahal, Borio, Barhet, Littipara, Pakur, Maheshpur, Shikaripara, Nala, Jamtara, Dumka, Jama, Jarmundi, Madhupur, Sarath, Deoghar, Poraiyahat, Godda, Mahagama, Ramgarh, Mandu, Dhanwar, Bagodar, Jamua, Gandey, Giridih, Dumri, Gomia, Bermo, Bokaro, Chandankyari, Sindri, Nirsa, Dhanbad, Jharia, Tundi, Baghmara, Silli and Khijri.
