Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that conforming to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative, an important decision was taken today to utilize the water streams of Chambal-Parvati-Kalisindh for Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been formalized between the two states to commence this transformative project. This agreement promises enhanced drinking water and irrigation facilities across 13 districts, including Morena, Gwalior, Sheopur, and Rajgarh. With every drop of water slated for efficient use in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, this initiative marks a pivotal moment in the developmental journey of both states. Valued at Rs 72,000 crores, this project heralds a historic milestone for Madhya Pradesh, embodying both innovation and the collaborative spirit of federal governance in our nation.. Chief Minister Yadav was addressing the program organized for joint initiative for the implementation of Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Inter-State River Link Project at Kushabhau Thackeray Auditorium today.
Chief Minister Yadav and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma inaugurated the joint initiative for the implementation of Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Inter-State River Link Project by lighting the lamp in the Kushabhau Thackeray Auditorium and immersing the sacred water of the rivers in the urn. On this occasion, Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silavat, New and Renewable Energy Minister Rakesh Shukla, Minister of State for Backward Classes and Minority Welfare (Independent Charge) Krishna Gaur and MLA Bhagwandas Sabnani were present.
Chief Minister Yadav emphasized that while states have their own interests, none should supersede the welfare of the country. He underscored that this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Modi's vision, emphasizing continual state collaboration to resolve issues, particularly concerning water sharing. Yadav acknowledged Prime Minister Modi's generous allocation of funds to Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, foreseeing substantial opportunities for tourism development as a result of resolving water issues between the states. He highlighted the tourism potential in regions like Chambal, Sheopur, and Ranthambore, noting Rajasthan's success in desert tourism and Madhya Pradesh's significant potential in religious tourism, with efforts focused on promoting sites like Omkareshwar and Mahakaleshwar in Madhya Pradesh along the path of Lord Krishna.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted that the successful completion of this project will significantly boost employment opportunities. Additionally, both states will collaborate on leveraging their mineral wealth. He emphasized the potential for Ayurveda in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, noting joint efforts under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Dr. Yadav also underscored cooperative initiatives to benefit farmers through opium cultivation. Furthermore, he expressed a commitment to joint wildlife conservation efforts and promoting tourism and employment-oriented industries.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma praised Chief Minister Dr. Yadav for advancing the joint initiative of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, aligning closely with Prime Minister Shri Modi's vision. He emphasized their shared commitment to advancing both states together, anticipating significant progress upon the completion of this project. Shri Sharma underscored the collaborative efforts between the state and the Centre to propel this project forward, noting the changed landscape from earlier times with now expanded resources.
The project's benefits will extend to 13 districts each in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, strengthening mutual relations. Shri Sharma proposed further joint schemes between the two states, including creating a cultural corridor from Khatu Shyam to Mahakal, promoting tourism and architectural admiration. He also highlighted initiatives to promote Sri Anna (millets) in agriculture to enhance water levels and benefit farmers and citizens with improved drinking water. Addressing wildlife conservation and tourism, Shri Sharma outlined plans to protect tigers moving from Ranthambore to Madhya Pradesh and leopards crossing into Rajasthan, aiming for comprehensive plans to safeguard wildlife and boost tourism.
Water Resources Minister Shri Tulsiram Silawat said that Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal project is a big gift for Madhya Pradesh. This gift will be completed with the efforts of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. The resolution of former Prime Minister Shri Atal ji is now going to be fulfilled. The target is to irrigate 65 lakh hectares in Madhya Pradesh in the year 2026. About 4 lakh hectares will be irrigated by this project. 2 lakh 80 thousand hectares will be irrigated in Rajasthan. Chief Minister Shri Sharma said that the project will open doors of employment.
