ESL Steel Limited, a key player in India's steel industry and a Vedanta Group Company, continues to champion societal and community development at its Bokaro plant. Recognized with numerous awards from national and international organizations, ESL Steel Limited has established itself as a leader in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
As part of its ongoing commitment to public welfare, ESL Steel Limited places significant emphasis on healthcare awareness and sensitization. On World No Tobacco Day, the company organized an awareness and sensitization program at the Das Tola Nand Ghar Anganwadi Center in Bandhdih, under its flagship healthcare initiative, Project AAROGYA. This initiative, in collaboration with the Citizens Foundation and the District Health Department, drew around 50 participants, including local health workers such as Sahia, Sevika, and Sahayika.
Project AAROGYA, a cornerstone of ESL Steel Limited's CSR efforts, serves over 100 villagers daily and has reached approximately 300,000 patients to date. The initiative operates through both a central healthcare facility and a Mobile Health Unit, which provides healthcare services across 27 villages. The program caters to diverse groups, including children, youth, women, expectant and lactating mothers, men, and the elderly.
Notably during the World No Tobacco Day event, government stakeholders and Project AAROGYA team members provided detailed information on the harmful impacts of tobacco, preventive measures, and treatment options for tobacco-related diseases. The program also emphasized the importance of creating a supportive environment at home to prevent tobacco use, particularly among youth.
